(a poem inspired by the first chapter of Song of Solomon, for Jesus)
I love to hear the sound of
Your name rolling off of my lips.
To say it again and again,
To breath each syllable out and then
To suck it in with such a force
That it burns in my lungs.
So harsh but sweet to feel you
Smoldering deep in my chest.
I can hardly stand it, but still
I’m begging you to come closer,
I ache to be nearer and nearer,
So near that your smell fills me up
With memories I’ve never had.
You kiss me over and over
My mouth is filled to the brim,
But I cannot speak a word.
